Angry Forty-Eight, Four Hundred Dollar Service?

2013 Forty-Eight 1000 mile service $400.00 at the dealer extra $'s if you add synthetic oil, it is mandatory to have the First service done by an authorized HD dealer/shop in order to keep the warranty valid. WTF, I hope the service includes a table dance or two, what do they do on the First service other than change the fluids, inspect the wear and do a couple adjustments, I mean for $400.00 there must be something else happening that I'm totally oblivious too!!

While there are a number of reasons to have the first (1,000 mile) service done by the dealer, there is absolutely NO legal requirement to do so.

If your dealer is telling you this, ask him if he's familiar with the Magneson Moss Warranty Act.

I just paid less than that to have the 10,000 mile service done on my Road King WITH the new Syn3 in all 3 holes! Isn't the 1,000 mile service a quick look over with JUST an oil change? Something isn't right!

As has been said many many times.
Buy yourself a manual and do it yourself and save $300.
The fluid changes are the big thing..
No big deal.

My stealership charged me $100 for checkup - they said it is mandatory and they will sell no bike without checkup. When I got home (15 min) my pants were oily (loose rocker cover), I found front tire not properly inflated, my headlight was aiming for the top of trees ... shall I continue?

If done properly, they're supposed to verify torque on every critical fastener as a double check on the factory. Essentially, they are certifying, by signing the work order, that everything on the bike is up to factory spec.

Sorry, it will have to remain a mystery.
But, it has nothing to do with years on the forum or post count.
