Default 01 Custom Tank Lift Question

I've got a 1.5inch DK tank lift kit (and coil relocation and key relocation :-) ) on the way but I know my tank is going to foul the speedo. Does anyone make a spacer to lift the speedo mount bracket up off the riser a bit..?

No. You need to change out risers.

What I did was I ditched the custom riser! I got a nice chrome used riser from eBay and a friend sold me his nightster gauge mount and his led indicators... I just got done installing it along with a Dakota digital! It's a huge improvement over the "custom riser"

Well, to be honest that's my end game.... But the connector blocks under that riser cover scare me LOL !

Is the loom separated again under the tank by other connectors...? I.e can you change the forward part of the loom for a "non-custom" one...?

Yes yes and yes... There is a plug under the tank (at least on my 04+) it's very easy just order from the dealer the NON custom speedo/ instrument wiring and get a astand riser In the duke you want and get some bars you want and bam ur pretty much done! It was not hard at all to do... Compared to say... Tuning a carb... It was just some bolts and swapping stuff from one style to another and alot of stuff I got off eBay for CHEEP!

Brilliant, fingers crossed it's the same on the 2001 Custom - how much did the different loom set you back..?

I made the swap a while ago. No regrets.

Appears on the 2001 Custom there is no "forward" harness that would enable me to change the dummy lights etc easily - looks like the soldering iron is coming out :-S
