I have been looking at this as well. It seems to make more sense to me to get the 883 and get the 1250 kit from NHRS, new exhaust and a few other performance items and still be under the price of a 1200. I understand that the resale is probably better on the 1200, but I am getting the bike to ride, not sell.

Still nothing to substaniate the cost, all else being equal... Just wondering cause I'm in the market for my g/f and trying to xsplain to her... She thinks the 883 is lighter and smaller, therefore the lesser cost. I showed her the customs and cosmetically there the same...

actally they are not the same cosmetically..they have the same size tank the same size wheels,forks,ect... but the 1200 has a chrome package that the 883 doesnt have..like i said some of us fools paid extra for it....

I'm just giving my opinion but everyone that I know that buys a 883 tells me I wish I would have bought the 1200 for that extra boost. But I SAY BUY WHAT YOU LIKE OR COULD AFFORD.Either one is a great reliable bike.

If you want her to get the 1200, tell her it's shinier.

If you want her to get the 883, tell her it's cuter.

I agree, keepthiscivil ! Just interesting looking out for my g/f and she questions the difference and needed an appropiate answer. The salesman justed look at us cross eyed and shurged his shoulders. Trying to lean her toward the 1200 only because I think she'll stick with it awhile and want to most for the money. The Nightster is our first choice, Yea Baby!!!
