Default Questions about Exhaust!

I am still relatively new to the forum and just had a few questions. I am wanting to get the V&H Short Shots staggered exhaust for my 09 Nightster.

My question is this...

Will I be able to swap out my stock exhaust and put the SSs on myself(moderate skill level here) or should I take it in to my mechanic/dealer?

And...

Will I need a remap or reject like I am reading so much about?

Thanks for any advice that can be given!

You won't have any trouble installing the short shots yourself. You don't need a remap or tuner or anything as longas you're running the stock AC.

The job is relatively easy and straight forward. You should be fine on your own... As far as remapping I would bolt it on and see how she runs first. It can always be done later.

PS don't worry about a little backfiring when down shifting or letting off the throttle. Its when she spits and fart on acceleration that you have a problem.

Hope this helps and good luck.

The bolts at the head of the front cylinder are not 'fat finger friendly' but I was able to remove mine and replace them after the rebuild and when I put the torque cones in. Just give yourself some time and patience and have some fun with it.
