Default Remove case to replace clutch cable? '82

Do you have to remove the engine case "similar to this one" to replace the clutch cable? The manual has it broken down but doesn't actually say if you need to remove it to replace the cable.

Yes, the "Primary Cover" needs to be removed to unhook the cable from the clutch ramp.

Thanks, looks like I have to pick up an impact wrench to loosen the 1 Phillips screw on the bottom. Hope gears and stuff don't fall out like on the other side.

If it's the screw I think you are talking about, it is just the oil level check screw. It doesn't need to be removed to take the primary cover off. You will have to drain the primary oil, take off the left footpeg mount, shift lever, and slack off the primary chain tensioner, though. Nothing should fall out when you pull the cover, but make sure the 3 steel ***** don't fall out of the clutch activator ramp. If you have a shop manual, be sure to look at it again before you start.

Thanks guys! I'm really gun shy after the cams fell out of the other side!
