She ask if a 4.5 would fit, not if you peanut tank jockeys would approve.
Do what suits you Deb : )

The 2.2 gal tank is pointless. The 3.3 may not seem like much more but its enough to ride long enough before stopping for a quick break anyways.

On the nightster, I'll do 200km easy before a refill, that's about 120miles.

A 4.5 gallon tank from a 2011 xl 1200 sportster fit my bike
Yes, it will fit.
You will need a seat from a Nightster/Iron/Forty-eight.
I don't regret changing mine (883R) 7 yrs ago.
I can easily ride 200+ miles before refueling.

I was shopping for a new tank just for fun. These guys seem to have the most.

The 4 cam motor is what defines a Sportster, not the peanut tank.
Sportsters look great with fat tank, fat front tire/fender & fat headlight.

But... I know a guy with a 6 gallon Road Glide tank on his XR1200 Hoka Hey bike.

Rickss69 your bike does look awesome. The paint job and your choice of pipes and the headlight bring it all together great! I think those choices is what makes it work. I can image that killer paint job with a peanut tank with Basani sweeps and a smaller headlight that would look pretty freakin awesome as well. Your paint job is what sets it all off. I bet thats at least a 500 dollar paint job too. Still a fan of the peanut tank and in my opinion it is what makes a sporty look like a sporty. The 4.5 tank reminds my of other bike and harley models, when ya see a peanut tank you just think sporty.
