883 or 1200

RE: 883 or 1200
well lets face it they are not exaxctly alike and every model of the sportster line-up has its place . there is between 3500-4000 dollars difference between a standard 883 and the top of the line 1200 custom or 1200l and not everybody is established with a great credit score or a job that allows them to finance that much money. neither does everybody need to attempt light speed or run 500 miles a day. some people never get out of the city but have to commute to a job or find a motorcycle easier to get around town . not everybody is over 6ft tall and weigh over 200lbs . my wife finds the 883l to be her weapon of choice she is 7 inches shorter and weighs half as much as I do , we rented an 883l for a weekend and put some serious miles on . she stayed right on my tail the whole time and a few times I had to run her down and make her slow down back toA safespeed . the 883 is all she wants and needs , she sold her buell blast sunday and now will be in the hunt for a new scoot come the spring thaw. there are enough different models out there ,that there is a sporty for every want and need, so I would suggest test ride or rent some different bikes and find the one that best fits you and your budget and just ride the hell out of it. for me I like the 1200r lean and mean . the next person may like a custom with all kinds of shiney stuff , to each his own.

i think i might just back out of this thread..it looks like it might turn into a war like every other time..i hope people dont get the wrong impression of what i was saying about the engine..i chose the 1200c because of the chrome and i like the look of the black finish..but when i was laying out thecash it was a choice between 8 and 10 grand and i paid the extra 2 grand for the bike that I LIKED..i have nothing against the natural finish...

PS: The funny thing is... my "buddy" has the exact same model / color as your bike. I think it looks sweet!

To each their own!?! [sm=bicker.gif]
Look at this... http://www.harley-davidson.com/PR/MO...&market=USInsert the bikes of your choice.
Ride the bikes. Then pick one. It's really quite easy/hard to choose/decide.
My choice is obvious but that's just me.

Glad to see y'all Moderating this thread yerselves, it was about to go down the tubes, and I was almost ready to hit the lock switch on it. Good job y'all.
Personally when I was shopping for a Scoot, I looked at the Metrics, and was ready to sign the papers on a Boulevard, then I decided to look at HD's, I knew I wanted a Sporty, just because I did not see me taking overnighters and such, soI didn't see the need for bags or storage. That being asid, I rode a 400 Yammer for years and felt the 883 would have plenty of power. I would have bought a 1200 had I found one that, in particular appealed to me. I had no Color in particular that I wanted, I was just lookin for "that" Bike. When I saw the Customs, I knew I wanted a Custom, 883/1200 whatever. Then after about 2 weeks of lookin, I found my '05 883C. Didn't care if it was 883/1200, that was the last thing I looked to see what it was, but when I saw it, I said, "thats the one". I got almost 24k on it since June '05, when it is time to rebuild it, I'll do the 1250 or bigger upgrade. That,, it appearswill be several years down the road.
Keep it civil, like y'all have.
