Default Leaving carb'd sporty fuel setting on reserve

Is it ok to run your bike with the fuel switch in the reserve position instead of the on position? I just noticed that mine has been running in the reserve position. Wonder if it is causing problems?

I don't think it'll cause problems until you run short of gas. And you're 10 miles from the gas station.

Yes, I did do that.

It acts the same way as in the normal "on" position. The only difference is when you run out you won't have any left in reserve.

Isn't reserve gas different than normal gas? Actually you want to be sure to shut it off or it could drip down into your crankcase causing all kinds of problems!

Thats what I figured but I just wanted to make 100% sure. I think I have been running it on reserve for a while but I just wanted to make sure it was not doing any damage.

Thanks for the Lame response, I did not think reserve gas was any different I just thought maybe if there was any **** in the bottom of the tank and it was just sucking up any crap left behind from a shitty tank or shitty gas.

Not that lame.

If there was **** in the tank, since you've ridden for a while on "reserve", it's probably already gone through the carb.

Also, he's right about making sure your gas is turned off when stopped, it can drain either outside or inside the engine. Turn your petcock to "off" when parked.

Because, if your bike is near the gas water heater in the garage.......BOOOM!

So I need to switch the gas to off everytime I park it? Also what kind of damage can it do to the engine if its left on reserve and it drains into the engine? What part of the engine would it drain to? That kinda scary sounding.
