1250 upgrade question
I'm gonna have my 883 converted to a 1250 with the 1250 conversion kit from NRHS soon andI have a question. Someone told me that the top end speed would not change from the 883 ifI leave the stock gears the same. Is this true?I know the 883 stock gears are lowerbut is this because of a larger rear sprocket or smaller front sprocket or what? I don't mind the vibration on the 883 right now at all even at 100mph but should I change the gearing to the same as the stock 1200s for a higher top end?
One more question I believe the 883 is rev limited to 5500 and the 1200 is higher (6500?) would it be worth it to change out the ignition? I am not looking for a race bike or anything but a quick bike with a top end of 120 or so would be great.

RE: 1250 upgrade question
Yes you are rev limited.A performance ignition module or a 1200 module will raise your top speed and 1200 gears would also. The question you need to ask yourself is are you looking to blow people away at high speed or lower speeds.I had a 88 883 hugger and dropped it in a turn because the front tire went flat in an instant.I was only going about 10-15 mph.For some reason I can't explain the rev limiterno longer worked.I could wind first out to 60 mph if I wanted.Made me damn fast and other Sporty riders didn't want to ride with me because they either felt I had a death wish or they couldn't keep up with me.Anyhow I was up to 125 mphand the amount of wind was terrible to say the least.I was only at 3/4 throtle and probably could have went another 10-15 mph if I had the ***** and could hold on but the wind was too much for me.By the way I was racing a Honda that was rated at 850cc's.He didn't even come close to me but his bike was 4 years older than mine.Another time a guy wanted to go riding together and he had an 883 and he said I can't ride with you because your nuts.I had a small Honda for my wife that I let my brother ride.We went on a night ride and he said sparks were coming out of my pipes.I said no my pipes were hitting the road.Do you feel confident riding over 100 mph?I don't never did but me and the wife would like more bottom end torque.Let me know how it works out.I'll get her a 1200 kit and get a 1250 kit for mine.I can't let her be faster you know.

RE: 1250 upgrade question
So wait 1200c said that the rev limititer on the 04 and ups are the same for the 883 and the 1200 (I believe it is 6000) but then diablo 666 said that a 1200 module would increase the rev limit. Which is it?
I would probably go over 100 very rarely so more bottom end grunt would be nice, just trying to figure out what the top speed would be with 883 gearing. Anyone know how to figure this out?

RE: 1250 upgrade question
Does the conversion kit also include the higher compression 1200 heads?
Also, I see you have a windshield and bags, so you must be doing some long (relatively) distance riding. You'll appreciate the higher gearing (29 vs the 28 tooth front) and still have great gobs of low-end with 1200.
