I am thinking about purchasing a second fuel tank, fenders, etc for my 2002 1200xl Sportster.

The parts currently on my motocycle are in perfect shape, and I want to keep them that way, and just as they came from Harley-Davidson.

I want a second set of parts to have custom painted. My wife knows a woman who is an excellent airbrush artist that has painted many a motorcycle.

I am looking at this tank on EBAY right now, and am thinking of buying it.

I do not know the seller, and I am not trying to sell anything myself.


My questions are: Will it fit my 2002? Is it the "same" tank? Capacity, dimensions, etc?

I don't really know much about variations if any for these motorcycles, and I want to get parts that will fit properly.

Is there only one tank style? How do I tell what tank my bike has on it to begin with? I do not have the owners manual to it.

That tank will not fit. You need something no later than 2003.
