Default Sportster 883 with 1250

Recently bought a 1995 Sportster 883 with a 1250 kit installed. Which oil filter should I use and will a 883 filter be too restrictive? When I bought the bike, the guy had traded it for some equipment and didn't know much about it... Is there any indicator that it in fact is a 1250 without taking the motor apart other than it running like a bat out of hell?

883 and a 1200 oil filter are the same. The only difference in the motors are the jugs, pistons and heads. The lower crank case is the same.

I would think the cylinders might be marked 1250 somewhere. Or possibly a manufacturer's stamp (NRHS, Hammer Performance, etc.) Sounds like a nice older bike, hope she runs good for you.

And there is a way to tell whether it's a 1250 or 883.. something about pulling a spark plug and measuring something.. do a little searching, but I know it's possible to determine even if there's no markings on the jugs.
