I'll start out sying that you're going to get a whole lot of answers based on opinion, including mine. I use Harley Formula + in the tranny because I'm confident it's compatible with the alternator windings etc. I use RevTech 25w60 dino oil in the engine because it actually made the engine quieter. No science involved, just choices.

Theses work and they smell good too. However how can you go wrong with what Harley sales. Realize it's way more then Walmart prices but bikes do not use a lot and it's actually cheaper then some of the chic named ones. What ever you use do not rely on back yard enginnering especially for the filter. You will have not a clue what it's really doing. Backpressure actually affect how the oil injectors work on the cylinders on these air cooled motors. Tighter smaller micron filter is not better.

Why can't people make their own decisions anymore.

Short answer, it doesn't really matter if you stay up on the maintenance schedule..

Anything you want that meets the specs in your manual and is easily available in your area.

Thanks guys.

What a pleasure changing the oil was on the sporty. I did motor and tranny in 1/4 of the time it used to take doing my vstar. (had to pull a pipe on the vstar)

I just picked up Mobile 1 V-Twin for the engine. I use HD dino for the primary.
