Default Lost exhaust bolts

Riding to work, they rattled off, bike started to run "funny" I fixed it enough to get home, but now im looking to buy a set of exhaust bolts for my rear cylinder. Anyone know the part number? or at least a site that has an IPL? its for a 2000 XL1200S....Thanks.

Are you talking the exhaust flange nuts, or the actual studs and all? This
prior post of Charley might answer your questions and fix this problem for good.

If you only need the bolts I would just take off one of the ones you have left and take it to a hardware store to match the threads. I just had to do this a couple weeks ago when mine fell off on a ride to Harrisburg, did it in the advance auto parking lot with their tools.

Check with the dealership. They'll be able to tell you the part no., whether or not they have it in stock and, if not in stock, the exact parameters for the bolts.

I went through this recently as well. The bolts are only a few dollars apiece.

How do you take off the bolts?

They should be NUTS, not BOLTS. 5/16 x 24 sounds right.

This seems too common a problem.

I'd soak them with WD40 or equivalent for a couple days, then gently take them off evenly.

The studs correct? you just pull them out? Turn them 1/4 to the right or something?
