Default tail light on sporty 72

Hi,

According to the research, i am unable to find any luck. I am trying to figure out how to install the new custom side mount license plate taillight wirings. I've removed the rear turn signals and side mount license plate off of the fender. since it has 3 connectors under the seat which is for the left n right signals and license plate running light. how does it work with just using one tail light (license plate tail light as a brake/running light)? thanks!

chris

Not sure what kind of tail light/plate mount you have, and if your plate light is in the brake and tail light. If it is you can just use one of the turn signal plugs. It has a ground, running light and brake signal wire. The brake and signal are the same wire. So every thing you need should be in one signal connector.

If you have a separate plate light just hook it to the running light wire....Here is mine

Blue is the running lights ( tail and plate ) and the purple is the turn/brake and
black is the ground.
Sorry for all the post but I had to wait till I got home to look... didn't have the
bike with me today.

my bullet light came from harris specialities. it has three wires. black, red n white. I am not sure where to connect. I tried from black wire to black, red to blue and white to purple. then the running light came on but when i hit the brake it goes off (while the other connector is connected with the right side blinker). when i disconnect both blinkers and i hooked the wires as i stated earlier, nothing works.

Yes, but if you do not want that then under the seat in a connector that has 6 wires. There is a red/yellow wire it is hot only with the front or rear brakes and does not flash with the signals. This is where you would wire the brake light wire. Then wire your running light and plate light to the blue wire I mentioned earlier.

Black is usually ground.
What I would do is ground the back wire, then touch
The red wire and white wire separately to power
And see which one is brake and running light.

Might check your fuses also, might have blown

Other than that I would just have to be there
