Default RE: Crimping a butt connector

Being a professional electrician I know how corrosion can effect continuity in a circuit. With electronic devices it also can add additional resistance. Some electronic circuitry depends on a specific amount of resistance and adding any can effect the circuit adversley. I prefer using the crimps made for outdoor exposure which have the heat shrink on them as well as a silicone grease in them which is specifically designed to withstand the heat used to shrink the tube down. Make sure you get the correct sized butt connector for the size wire you are using and use the correct point on your crimpers designed for insulated wires.

I did it last night, seemed to work. The signals work i mean. In fact i tried to pull one off of one end and couldnt. AFter crimping the butt connector i grabbed one end of the wire and pulled as hard as i could over and over and it wouldnt come out, i had to cut it off, i think im good to go. Thanks guys.

its horrible out of 300 inside wiremen there are 131 on book one and no hope in site . there is a 2.6 billion dollar power plant project breaking ground this spring but you know as well as I do it will still be 6-12 months before there are any significant manpower on the job . there are no commercial jobs happening at all and all the manufacturing plants are laying off and reducing expansion .I have been running a small shop residential and light commercial stuff and that has just about come to an end. I have bid one commercial job since october.
