Hard Starting Sportster
A week ago, I went to start my bike (2007 Sportster 1200c), turned the key and the thing was dead. No lights, nothing.
The next day, I pulled the batter out thinking it was dead, put a trickle charge on it and it did hold charge. Installed the battery and the bike started up, however, while holding down the start button, the engine tried to kick in, then died (console lights off, etc) , then started (hard to explain).
The battery is holding a 12.34 cold and between 13.50 and 13.9 when engine is running. However, the battery is 2 years and 2 months old. I never put it on a trickle charge, so maybe the battery needs to be replaced?
I rode for about an hour at highway speeds yesterday and again this morning, but had same issue when starting bike on way to work.
Even though the battery recharged, could it be it no longer has enough cranking amps?
Should I be looking at something else; maybe the starter, Stater or wiring?
