So far, I haven't had an issue with mine but I think before my next ride, I'll be proactive and put the zip tie in there to keep it on.

Had mine drop down at 70mph on the interstate. Would not have even noticed it if the wife had not been on the back and hollered at me on the Sena that my bike was coming apart. It did it a couple more time but has been good for over a month now. I don't have to get to the fuse block or battery but once in a great while so the zip tie trick will work for me.

No issues on my 13' Custom. Seems like the bottom clip would keep mine from ever falling off if the top clips didn't hold.

I can't get mine off due to the bottom clips, assumed that was a poor design.

The bottom clip is shaped like a hook on mine. Once you undo the top lean it out toward you and push up on the bottom to lift up over the "hook". Funny I thought it was a pretty clever way to keep from losing the cover should the top clips fail. Funny thing perspective...

Good luck with it.

LOL. Nice. I guess I've been around a little while. I'm still learning, though.

Mine came to me with a zip tie instead of front clip. Paid $20 for new and improved front clip. Worked for a while. I noticed cover sticking out last week and hanging on, only by lower metal clip. Like lots of others have done, I drilled hole through back clip and dropped in 3" piece of zip tie, with clasp up and untied. There's a 1/2" tube under and near the front edge of cover that attaches to a 3/4" round canister type thing. There is a clip it that holds canister thingy in place. This clip and canister was pushing against cover. I cut off clip with utility knife and now canister thingy sits loosely (closer to battery) and is no longer fighting with cover. so far so good.

That clip that holds the canister it pretty loose. You should be able to rotate it away from the cover so the tube is away. The clip may rotate back to its natural alignment because of tension from the tube though. I put a couple of drops of epoxy on the clip to hold it in place. It hasn't move a hair and the tube is routed nicely.

I started researching this problem since I just ordered my second battery cover from Harley Davidson for my '14 Iron. The first one fell off after I took the bike in for the first service, I figured they hadn't put the piece on right. After two months of waiting for the cover to come in I went and had a brand new one put on the bike, I rode around town for a bit and everything was good. The first day I took it on the freeway it flew off. Pisses me off so much. I went to the service department again today and they informed me that yeah I was one of six people with this issue at that specific dealership right now. They are replacing these for free, but I mean the cover shouldn't fall off in the first place. My bike has some weird clips on it with like a "v" cutout in the center of them, but I'll see if I can do that zip tie mod to it. Not gonna have another one fall off. It looks fugly without the cover on it.
