Default 1200 sporty running rough at partial throttle opening

It is running ok at speed but it is sputtering when I take off from a stop. I opened up the airbox and sprayed some carb cleaner, and added some seafoam. The only thing I have noticed is that the choke will not stay open, I have to hold it to keep it choked.

Any ideas?

Adjust your choke **** so it has some resistance to stay open.

Loosen inside nut, turn the knurled outer nut to add resistance, tighten inside nut.

This is from someone with a broken off knurled nut, I just hold the choke a couple minutes till she's warmed a bit. I've got a new cable, but haven't gotten around to replacing. Be gentle, that plastic knurled nut will break loose if you don't loosen inboard nut first.

You should not need to alter the "inboard" nut to change the adjustment on the knurled tension nut. And yes, (from experience), the cable will brake if you over tighten the inboard nut on the choke.

Mine is broke also....

TIP: I use a clothes pin to hold the enricher open. They are the perfect thickness. Easily removed and put in your pocket when you get down the road. Just make sure to write Harley Davidson in marker on both sides of the clothes pin so people will know that you spent a lot for it. :P

Hijack over.

LOL I put it back together after I hosed it down with carb cleaner and now it runs fine, I wonder if it got a spot of bad gas or something? I think I will swap the plugs too while I am thinking about it.

I did tighten the locking nut but choke still wont stay open.

That's funny, I thought about using the same thing to keep it open. I don't mind sitting a couple minutes holding though.

Great Idea, don't forget to paint it orange!
