Probably because the current they draw is too low and smartass electronics you have on your bike think there is no bulb.

Google "led load equalizer", they're typically required when replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs on vehicles not designed for LED bulbs.

Try taking the bulb out and spinning it 180 degrees then putting it back in. Might work since the LEDs are diodes(one way valves for electricity) so they could be blocking the current flow

Have you ever seen a standard car lightbulb socket?

The bulbs are all keyed, you can't put them in 180 out.

I put LEDs in my 08 and needed no equalizers, The bulbs I bought from Autozone didn't fit in the sockets far enough to be able to twist the bulb to lock it in. I had to modify the slots in the sockets to make them lock in like they should. Somewhere there are LED bulbs that are on a flat circuit board with a socket dangeling from a wire, the LED part fits just behind the lense. Those were designed for the light sockets on out bikes.

Similar to these:

Without the load equilizer they should still have lit up. The load equalizer pulls the extra current to cause the blinker doohickie to work. : )

I used the badlands load equilizer, wasn't much and came with great instructions. Just make sure you get the right equilizer for the right job. Just call them up, they will tell you which one to get based on what you have and what you're trying to do. They're out of Nevada.
