Do you live in a suburban or rural area? I live in an urban environment and a half mile here is quite a distance. Especially with typical city noise.

But I did have my tongue-in-cheek hat on when I posted that.

I run new take off stock. There is one one center stop in dividing each pipe into a two baffle system. Both pipes are hooked with a crossover so each cylinder shares two exhaust. It would be pretty difficult to modify it to be quieter. I am sure it just squeaks by the requirements. My Yamaha is quieter

The stock one is just horribly silent.
More silent than a silent Jap bike.
I was too concerned about not making too much noise, but just could not stand the stock one.
I opted for the SE slip on, which IMO sound awesome, without being obnoxiously loud.

I live in the country. I can hear drag pipes 3-4 miles away

I wanted my Harley to sound like one but I didn't want it to sound obnoxious either. (I have neighbors who work shift.) After installation I fired her up and was sorely disappointed. It made that sewing machine noise more pronounced. I hated it and it was much quieter than stock. I'm not sure how you would incorporate this into a stock slip on but I'm just relaying a little info on what I've done. I've fixed it since and got the sound I want. I'm kind of mystified over why you would want your bike that quiet. With people driving around with their heads firmly implanted in their *** I would rather have them hear me or become aware I'm around than be "stealthy".
If you were riding a BMW that would be called techno-clatter.
