Put a Roland Sands gauge mount on my 2007 883 Custom
The Roland Sands website says the gauge mount is compatible with 2008-2012 Sportsters, so I'm just posting this here so that other 2007 Custom owners can see that the RSD gauge mount is compatible with their bikes. Didn't have to modify anything; just follow the instructions included with the RSD gauge mount. Took about 2 hours or so to swap out the risers and install the gauge mount and solder the dummy lights. I'm gonna have the dealer install some shorty 1.5 inch risers when I take my bike in for its 10k mile servicing. I didn't install it myself because the front brake line kept getting in the way and I don't know how to cut the line, bleed the brakes, etc, and I didn't want to risk doing it myself since my bike is my only form of transportation.
I used this billet headlight mount so that I wouldn't have to install a new headlight or make a custom piece for the bottom of the RSD gauge mount: http://www.debrix.com/BILLET-Headlig...31-0642-vt.htm It's a little thin, so I also had to add some 3/8" x 1/2" spacers to fit on both sides of the mount, which I got from my local hardware store.
The risers you see in the pics are these: http://www.jpcycles.com/product/5000610 They're good risers, but I don't recommend them for use with the RSD gauge mount since they cause my drag bars to block the dummy lights (I knew this would happen. These 4" risers are just until I take my bike to the dealer to get the brake line shortened.), though they do provide the perfect, comfortable riding position for my 6'3" body - not too upright, not too hunched over.
Now I need to figure out how to route the wires so it looks less cluttered. Maybe add a small tank lift and shove everything under the tank.

Great job!!!
Isn't it wild how the Customs look changes by just ditching that stock riser?
You can play around with handle bars all you want now.
I used Biltwell Slimline Risers with 1 3/4 inch rise without shortening my brake cable.
Glad your almost done.
It looks awesome!!!
