Default draining old fuel in nightster

hey guys 2008 nightster i believe or hope i only have bad fuel in the fuel tank...is their a way of draining it other than a syphon hose? I also cant get rid of the bad fuel by running it out because it wont start to run it out.......it does run when i put starting fluid in the air filter and its sat up for a while so I'm pretty sure its fuel thats where im going to start at tackling the problem at least.

Can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the key on?The gas would have to be quite old to stop the bike from starting.

yeah i can hear the fuel pump kick on....i ran it probably about 3 months ago and it cranked up fine then the tank was kinda low and i put some seafoam in it and then filled the tank up with fuel and it took me a few minutes to get started when i rode it last but after it started it ran fine...then today i went out to start it and it would crank but not fire until i put a little starting fluid in it and it kicked right off......do you think maybe i put too much sea foam in it..i would say i put about 3 ounces to about 2 gallons of gas

I doubt it is too much Sea Foam.If it starts with starting fluid it seems to be a problem of the bike not getting fuel.

Does it die after it turns over? Did you run the seafoam/gas through the bike before it sat or just add it to tank?

Why don't you just add some new fuel to it, or is the tank already full.

it has 2 gallons in it so i could add a little more...gonna see how much a syphon hose is tomarrow and might by one to syphon it out and start fresh with fresh fuel so i can at least cancel that out....i agree that the fuel shouldnt be bad but at least its something i can cancel out..... its only a few gallons.

taking the tank off to drain it is pretty simple if you have something to pour it into. I have done it before with different bikes and takes only a couple of minutes. Three months isn't that long for gas. What does the inside of the tank look like? Is it rusted or flaking?
