Default Making drag pipes work

Here is a Cheap Trick from the Old School that works if you want to run drag pipes like myself and lessen that mid rpm range drop.

Personally the 4" universal baffles off eBay worked
Better for me, placed 7" from the end.
The lolly pops were louder and the bike ran
Good. With the baffles it had a great sound and
Pulled really hard but less top end.

Drag pipes are just so last century! Having discovered just how well a good 2-into-1 runs I won't be using any form of separate pipes again.

I run drag pipes with an over jet. If I had $900 plus to spare I would have R&B racing pipes on for sure.

High rpms riding makes for some good fun running drag pipes but if you dont ride that way low end is a little slow at first in fact mine acts like a bucking horse in the lower rpms.

It's not likely I will install those little do dads in my pipes I like the feel when I am at full twist around 2400 rpm. Kinda rushey.

I have open pipes and no lollie pop's and my pull's like a Mack truck. I do have the PC III dyno tuned for them, but still. I have made a few differant sets of lollie pop's and they do seem to tone the sound down some and do add back pressure.

High performance and drag pipes do not go together. Considering the diameter and length of drag pipes offered for Harley they would come beneficial above 12,000 RPM or so. With drag pipes you will lose in low range, in mid range and in high range (less in high range, but it's still a loss).

^^^agreed, once I installed the Samson pipes
After the drags, it was a world of difference.
True the 2 into 1 is best for performance ...
But Harley's need 2 pipes to look right to me.

I did the lollipops because my bike came with drag pipes. Definitely got noticeable performance boost, but man the sound is terrible. It's now like this very high pitched whistle in the background of un-muffled sound. Definitely wanting to find slip-ons that I could put over the drag pipes (since I don't have the original exhaust).

Try tuning the lollipops parallel to the pipe then 45 degrees to the pipe.

The Sound of your bike should suite your taste and be music to your ears myself I could care less about what a dyno says both my bikes have drag pipes & they make a Harley sound like a Harley.
The 2 in 1 header will perform better but I don't like their looks or the pipes that close to the engine and to my ears they have a muffled sound.

Its all personal preference and what you like after all you have to listen to her talk lol.
