Exclamation Purchased Burly Ape's Now im Worried

Ok after several weeks on deciding which style bars I wanted to get, I finally decided to order the 14" Narrow Bottom apes from burly and get the Cable Extension kit.

After going out and just looking at the bike to prepare my self Im becoming concerned. I have a 1996 883 and my brake line dosent go from the master cylinder to the caliper. There is a metal L shaped rod that connects the two seperate brake lines. This got me thinking...

I went back and checked burly website and it states that the kit is made for 1997-2012...will this kit still work for my bike?

The entire brake line you have now will come off, and the other will be long enough to go from master cylinder to caliper with no metal, it will be fine, stress not ye of little faith.

yeah what Jeff said. Unless you want to pay someone to mod the stock line you'll have to completely replace it.

That's good news as long as it will fit i should be fine. Another concern I have with the added leverage I'm creating with the 14" bars, will this plastic mount many stock bars are in keep them from moving?

you mean the riser bushing? yes, they will hold, the stock bushings are rubber and the bars will move just a tad bit, but its not going to be loose as you might be thinking, it will ride fine. I left the stock bushings on my bike and have zero issues.

You shouldn't have any problems. Call burly and ask about the kit. I used the 14" kit and had extra cable as you can tell in my pic. The 12" kit would be cleaner looking. I'm running 14" bars and there like a rock. No movement at all. Good luck and post some pic's

Sensei -
Those bars look sweet bro. I am about to put apes on my FXDX and was looking at R6C. I can't decide on the "14 or "16. I'm 5'9" Where do those 14"s come to on you?

Thanks for the input brother.

Thanks, I'm 6'2 and they are right under shoulder height. I really like the way it rides now with them on.
