I bought the same bars (12") and the cable kit. the Bracket gets replaced with a longer line that goes from the caliper to the reservoir. no problems what so ever. the burly kits are badass man.

I bought the same kit. You'll be fine.

 

Put em on my 06. Fairly easy install, I changed out riser, idiot lights and everything and it only took 3-4 hours. Make sure you have a manual to get the clutch properly hooked back up and adjusted.

 

I can't help but wonder why the fitment stops at 1997. Does the '96 have different banjo bolts? Maybe a different throttle cable connection? Anybody know? I guess we'll find out when you go to install the kit.
