Question Tach for 2012 HD 1200C

One of the upgrades I plan on doing is adding a tach. Has anybody added a tach? Did you go with a HD or aftermarket?

Many thanks for your input.

There was a thread not too long ago about the route I am going to go.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...alog-tach.html

Its a Tach/speedo from HD. I love it, and its not too bad at around 300 bucks. Looks awesome to me.

Its not my thread, just one I saw that I thought you might be interested in.

I wish it was mine though. If you sent me one Id be more than happy to review and install it (on my bike) for you. With tons of pictures too! Then you can decide if you want one.

Ah man. I would call your dealer just to double check. I was pretty sure it would work with a 2012... If not, I apologize...

I just installed that speedo/tach on my 2012 XL1200C and it works great. Worth every penny. Installation was a breeze. Spent more time reading the instructions than it took to do it.

Another advantage to going with this one is that it's plug and play with the existing wiring harness and it fits in the same bracket as the original factory speedometer.

That looks nice! The original speedometer is mounted towards the tank. Did the mount have to be rotated towards the front for this new speeding/tach to fit/function?

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Looking forward to the reply.

I took that picture while sitting on the seat and looking straight down at the handlebars. The angle can be a bit deceiving. Here's another picture so you can see exactly where my unit is mounted.

I didn't need to move or rotate it at all. The new unit is the exact same size and dimensions as the original. You just unbolt the old one and remove it from the outer case and slide the new one in. It's possible that mine may be in a slightly different spot since my bike was a custom order with the mini apes installed at the factory. With the different handlebars, they may have repositioned the speedometer.
