i have been running Motul for years in my sportbike. it was recomended to me by a very knowledgable nitrous tuner for sportbikes....i was told it was a much better oil in general and also much better for the clutch. i like it...it works great...bike sounds excellent....clutch is fantastic....i also use motul in my dads vtwin suzuki cruiser....also a very happy customer.

Would you guys use redline 20w50 motorcycle oil in your primary/tranny? Redline recommended me to use a severe duty gear oil that was GL-5 spec but from what I've read you only want to use GL-1 spec in sportsters right?
I'm really confused with which redline product to use in the tranny/primary. A rep from redline says to use 75W90 GL-5 Gear Oil for sportsters but their website lists 80W Motorcycle Gear Oil with ShockProof Popular for Sportster V-Twin transmissions, so which one is it?

+1...I asked the same question in my above post. Waiting to hear those replys as well! I'm wondering if they oil use the Motul 20W50 as engine oil only, and NOT the primary?

This is what Dave from Redline said about Sportster Primary/Tranny fluid:
Dave,
Some GL-5 gear oils can be corrosive to brass, bronze and copper though not ours.
Some are using the 80Wt Motorcycle Gear Oil in the Sportster combined primary/transmission though not our recommendation as the ShockProof can cause sticking or drag from the Harley clutch. The ShockProof gear oils are extremely unique synthetic products containing a moly component in a gel structure.
The 75W90 is a full synthetic gear oil and our recommendation in the shared Sportster primary/transmission.
