Default x14ied + SE slip on + Stage 1 SE Intake = black burnt oil?

I changed the engine oil when I did the stage 1 upgrade and X14IED couple of months back. I have ridden only close to 1100 miles but yesterday when I checked my oil, it was super dark and smelled burnt and I had to change it!! is it supposed to be like that? I know using x14IED supplies more fuel to the motor and also keeps the engine relatively cooler...but at the cost of getting burnt soon? Is it damaging anything?

Oil gets black. It's supposed to do that. Changing your oil just because it turns black is a HUGE waste of money and resources.

I wouldn't change the oil just because it is black!!! I have changed oil before (every 2500 miles) but it never looked or smelled like this so soon. so I was wondering if doing all these upgrades was damaging anything.

Oil does many things in an engine, as it heats up and collects carbon it will turn black.

No popping what so ever! Engine is relatively cooler and the ride is smoother. Loving the sound!

Something does not sound right. The oil shouldn't be real dark and smell burnt after only 1100 miles.

if you only rode a 1100 miles in a couple months I bet you take mostly short trips, in that case you run with the motor cool more of the time which means it is running rich (the fuel injection adds more fuel to a cold motor) and when the motor is colder it has more blowby of fuel by the rings, which inturn causes the oil to turn black pretty fast...so yes, I would say in your case it is normal...

Well...i commute to DC from VA abt 25 miles one way and i do sit in traffic for quite a bit. (I-66 is terrible)...but these sportsters dont need to be warmed up or anything before riding as far as i know? I just hop on and take off every morning..
