Rode a 1200c today..
Rode to work today to get my check since I was off last week. My boss asked when I was going to go by his house?
The story: His daughter (30ish) used to work for H/D financial and at that time bought a 2006 XL1200c and had it modded with the stage 1 screaming eagle pipes/a/c and rejet. She moved to Austin and left it here in his garage because she couldn't put it in the truck.
Anyway, it had been sitting for 4 months and I told him it needed to be started periotically to keep everything lubed up. He has no clue about bikes. So I went over to his house with him to start her up.
At the house: He had it pinned up against the wall with boxes on top of it. Must have been at least 1/8 of an inch worth of dust on her. Yes the battery was very low, but not totally dead. Idiot left the key in the ignition. I hope he keeps the garage closed! We put a charger up to it and the starter hit a few times but just didn't have enough juice getting to it. I told him we need to jump start.
Well we hooked it up to his car and waited a minute. While the car was running, I pulled the choke all the way out. push the start button and the engine turned a little faster and started to fire a couple of times then die. After about 3 of these, I decided to let the car run for a few minutes. Each time the bike tried and then finally began to run. I stayed on the starter and gave it gas and then started to run. I just kept the throttle at a constant 1000 rpm or so after. The pipes were loud but kinda tinnie for my taste. I tried backing off the choke, but it wanted to die so I let it run for awhile. Finally I put the choke down to 1/3 and it beganto idle on it's own.
The boss: Want to ride it? "Hell yeah!!". I took off down the alley it started a couple of times to kinda misfire, most likely the gas may have been contaminated with moister. She started to run better. I whipped the throttle alittle bit and almost pulled the front wheel off the ground!I thought;"This is freakin cool!".Got out in the street and rode around then went back. I told him to put it on a slow charge and at least start it up every once in awhile to keep thngs lubed up.
Moral: I want one!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
