this thursday 25th jan i will be taking delivery of my new 883custom. i live about 200 klms (120 miles) from melbourne (austraila) and would like to know your opinions on this. do i ride the bike home or trailer it. is it folk law to ride a new bike home ? or not, thanks bretho.

 

Hey, what ever is most convenient for you is the way to go. If you ride it, be aware of the break in period for the engine.

 

I picked mine up in march in southern indiana 250 miles from home in a snow storm and 25 degrees so it rode in the back of a pickup truck I borrowed . When I pulled in my driveway at home the left front wheel fell off the truck all the lugnuts had stripped off .Enjoy your new bike

no brainer. ride the hell out of it. trailers and bikes dont go together in my opinon.LOL

 

I rode mine home but it was just10 miles across town. They told me to keep it under 50 mph and work all the gears for the 50 miles [:@]. Unless you have some nice slow lazy roads on the way I would trailer it or have it delivered [:@][:@]

 

Weather permitting, ride it home of course. Have someone drop you off and follow you home if you unsure of something. No better time to start breaking it in and make sure everythings working...

 

Ride it home, I did mine, 130 mi and got some break in time on her too.
