Does the extra friction plate in a Barnett kit simply replace the stock spring plate?

 

Yes from what I have read it does replace the spring plate. You really don't need the spring plate in a sporty, it just causes more issues when it breaks with sending shrapnel through your primary. Someone else that knows for sure should chime in though.

 

When eliminating the spring plate, you replace it by adding 2 steel plates and 1 friction plate.

So what exactly is the purpose of the spring plate if it can be eliminated? I would assume it either reduces clutch plate rattle or absorbs driveline shock? Just speculating and I hope to learn a more definitive answer. Cheers, RR

​I have a doubt that, I am replacing stock friction plates with new barnett plates.(8)
Can I reuse 1 stock friction and 2 steel plates that in the best shape?

Also the dealership tells me to replace pressure plate and spring which I am doubtful about.
Kindly advise .

If I was replacing all the plates, I would not reuse any of the old ones. Buy a complete kit and be done with it.

 

Get the Barnett extra plate kit. Do not mix and match plates, you will get a squeal.
