I went to the dealer and ended up swapping my Sundowner for a Mustang.

Harley-Davidson's stock bikes are a great starting point for customization. They are, without argument, the most modified of all other manufacturers. Because of that there is a huge aftermarket business for modification. Many of them make our beloved Harleys not only better but personalized to our wants and needs.

Although the MoCo offers a large selection of parts, there are other companies that make better products for less. It makes sense really. If they want to compete for your business they have to offer value. Some do it better than others and Harley relies on it's brand name to attract customers. But there are plenty of companies that offer products that are better than the factory.

NRHS is one of those companies. They offer a 1250 kit that differentiates itself by using a higher displacement over the Harley 1200 kit. Plus it offeres, by NRHS's own words and the words of their customers, a better kit. For less money.

Mustang, Progressive and V&H are a few others too. Not to mention buying directly from the companies that manufacturer the accessories for Harley-Davidson. Why not just go to them and purchase the same or similar product for less without the HD logo?

There are plenty of reasons not to use HD branded parts and accessories on our bikes. That doesn't mean we should love our bikes less. No, it actually makes us appreciate our Sportsters and Harleys that much more.
