Default Rush pipes on XL1200N

I recently purchased a 2008 XL1200N & I am planning on installing Rush1.75" slip ons with sotck fuel map on this bike for a Deep rumble sound .

I am assuming there is no further tunning or equipment required for this .

I would appreciate the comments & experience with these slip ons.

Also can i install the slip ons myself , is it complicated?

Thx

From what I've read and what the dealer has said, no tuning is required for just pipes. And its a pretty easy job, hardest part is getting the old mufflers off.

Don't trust the dealer on the no ecm business with Rush 1 3/4". I was told that and the bike ran like chit. Took a supertuner and filter to the tune of $800 to get it running right. I also confirmed the supertuner with an indy shop. He told me the new bikes run so lean, any change puts you in the supertuner mode.

My experience was the same as Spud. Rush 1.75's alone with the stock tune made the bike run like crap. Wasted $200 on the "factory stage 1 download"... still crap. X14ied's made it tolerable but still not what I wanted. Stage 1 filter and tuner and some experimentation and I'm happy now. I plan on eventually upgrading to a Power Vision. Bottom line: don't be fooled into believing slip-on's will not effect the EFI in some way.

I originally ran the 1.75 rush slipons w/only X14IEDs and had no problems...ran like a top.

Rush pipes with stock a/c and XiED's will run well on your 2008. Without the XiED's it will be ok, you will not damage it, but it will not run so well. That low RPM hesitation you have now will be worse.

Look HERE and you can see the differences between the X14iED and the XiED. The ViED would work also.

Of course putting an open a/c on will make it run even better.

I have had an open a/c and pipes with the X14iED's on my sporty for years. Runs great, Dyno sniffer shows the AFR dead on, both at WOT and cruising thru the grears.

I would recommend the W118 Thunder Torques in your Rush slip-ons. Without them you are going to lose some low and mid range power (with or without a tuner).

I spoke to a Independent HD mechanic , he is recommending a power commander which is another $300 ,with out this the bike will not perform & will heat up very fast .

When I called RUSH they told me that that 1.75 baffle on a stock XL1200N should be fine with any further tuning or equipment.

Cannot afford the commander & slip ons .Might have to drop this idea.

Thanks

I currently have a set of Rush slip ons in black on my XLN, I have been wanting somethign different and will sell them to you cheap. PM if you are interested and I could get some pics and a video of the bike running so you could hear it. BUT - the finish isn't great, I was going to paint them with the BBQ or VHT high temp stuff but never did because I decided to get a V&H setup, jsut haven't done it yet.

I think I have a 1.5"(?) baffle in them now but thay also came with a 2"(?) baffle. I run X14VIEDs and had that setup with both the Screamin Eagle AC and the mreed AC and it has run great with that. I think someone is selling the X14s in the classifieds section for 60 bucks or so, thats about as cheap as you will get. PM me if interested.

Ran this same configuration for a few years and it was great.
