Default Need help please about exhaust pipe color

Good afternoon all.

I know there is a thread on here about exhaust color but I could not find what I needed.

In the below picture is my ride. The rear pipe underneath is blue and gold. More blue than gold though. The front pipe is still all chrome without any color at all.

I am running a DK Custom A/C with x14ied's and American Custom Slip-ons with the growler baffles and thunder torques. Can I still be running lean? Am I running lean on just the rear? Or should I not worry?

All answers and help appreciated. Thanks...Matt

You can see a tiny bit of the gold and blue color on the rear pipe down at the bottom in the picture.

If the X14's are functioning properly, I doubt you are lean.

Check to see if you have any exhaust or intake leaks.

The best way to tell is to get it on a Dyno with a sniffer...but that can cost some bucks.

You could also swap the front and rear X14's.

Are you getting any low rpm hesitation?

Thanks Kevin. No low rpm hesitation at all. No hesitation at any rpm. Bike has ran the same since I put all your parts on it. I just noticed the coloring today. A/C is tight. Those little metal exhaust gaskets inside the exhaust are good. Could it be caused by the front exhaust blowing right at the bottom of the back exhaust?

Thanks...Matt

I have never seen that happen before...does not mean it doesn't. Also, not familiar with the American Custom process of changing the stock slip-ons...I wonder if there process could have somehow compromised the chrome. I would give them a call.

If you were lean, you would have the hesitation you had when the bike was stock from the factory lean.

I'm like 85% positive that you're right. There's a leak somewhere. I am sure that it's not normal to have only one pipe blue over the other.

There very well could be a leak now that i think about it. When I changed slip-ons I used the original little circular metal exhaust gaskets that go inside the slip-ons. I never installed new ones. That could be the problem right there.

Thanks guys...Matt
