Have you had the right switch cover opened for any reason? That front brake light switch is EASY to break. Normally that will result in no brake light, not exploding blub. I'm just throwing out ideas.
If you have a volt meter, I would check the electrical going to the bulb.

hummmm. Sounds like the wires are fine to that circuit, and it could likely be water getting in somewhere. Maybe the gasket around the taillight? Dielectric grease is good, but only to a point.

I had this exact problem. that my brake light is on all the time. Checked every wire harness and even pulled the relay apart. Come to find out that when i adjusted my throttle lines, i loosened the switch housing and the brake housing. When you put them back together you have to make sure they are as tight together as possible to press the plunger switch to turn off the brake lights. Probably doesnt make any sense in writing........question, have you ****ed with your controls at all?
