They are ridden by the US Capitol Police. The also have full dressers but the sportsters are what you see most often. Their area of patrol is small and glad they are riding them I still see the DC Metro riding the Honda 250 still.

Being a sporty owner I was happy to see that they exist.

Thumbs up

Old thread but the subject matter deserves being resurrected:

Imagine it actually being your job to cruise this beautiful beast around Jakarta scoping all those little brown Indonesian chicks wanting rides on that sexy AMERICAN motorcycle!

An 883.
Could not find the differences.
Such as better generator/ alternator, clutch, different gearing or suspension, tire spec or a better OEM horn
HD Website says to e-mail a HD sales rep for specs.
FWIW I like the idea of a sportster for police, mainly because of maneuverability, such as the ease to ride up and down stairs and dirt roads.

I wouldnt feel bad about getting pulled over by that, I got a ticket in my car by a cop on a mountain bike once, he even had a little siren and flashing blue lights on it. Now thats something thats emarrassing.

The Military police had them in the 1950’s and 60’s.

HD cites a "Less Than Half" operating cost compared to comparable Honda police motorcycle.
