Default Is it possible to weld on ports of O2 sensors?

I may have a good deal on a used exhaust, but the problem is its for the 86-03 bikes. I have an 07 with the O2s.

I believe the only difference between them is the O2 ports (correct me if I am wrong, I may be thinking 04-06 are the only ones that are identical). What would stop me from drilling out a hole on the backside of the pipe and welding on a nut with the proper threads?

They are Bassani Sweepers. Any change its possible? What am I missing?

Yep just buy a set of O2 sensor bungs and weld them in. Just make sure you put them where you have room for them. I like mine pretty close to the stock location.

I was under the impression the bungs needed to be at a certain angle to work properly?

Or...get yourself a tuner w/O2 bypass & then you're good for new exhaust + additional mods.

FYI, I'd "double-check" fitment on those '03 pipes...there were some design changes on 04+ bikes so they may look like they'd fit, but bend/angles could prove wrong...

Well I'm scratching that idea because I found this:

I need to convince the guy I'm not scamming him and get him to ship them to me, but I figured this is doable. any suggestions?

I'm toying with the same idea, as I want to put a 2-in-1 Paughco pipe set on my 2012 XLC, and there are no 02 bungs in them.

I stay tuned on this topic.

Here is a great video from ThunderMax on installing bungs. They need to be within 6" of the cylinder end of the header pipe.

Hope that helps

I had bungs welded in my Vance and Hines pipes. To get the angled ones, I had to order them from Zippers. I needed bungs for my ThunderMax system. The one difference between a set of Big shots for an 07 and new softail and a pre 06 is the bungs. I just took some pictures of the location on a newer set and marked my pipes. I took them to a muffler shop and had them welded in. It cost about 20 bucks. I do seem to remember you need to have the bung within something like 6 inches of the head.

+1 - The Sporty was completely redesigned from the frame up in 2004. If the pipes include a frame support bracket, you'll likely have to do some fab work to get them to fit.

Does anyone know if sideshots will hit the pavement during hard cornering? Thats why I'm getting rid of the slip ons, I bounce the lower muffler off the pavement and my rear and the rear end gets loose. I'm afraid one of these days I'm gonna loose control.

My other option are these but I like the sideshots more...assuming they wont hit pavement. http://www.spitfiremotorcycles.com/p...ortster-pipes/
