Default Z Bar Question

Thinking about ordering these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-ape-hange...sories&vxp=mtr

This will be the first mod I've ever done on a bike but I know I have the resources to do it.

Is there anyone else who as installed these? If so did you have to order cable extenstions or could you use the stocks and just cut zip ties?

Also, im guessing I will need a new brake and clutch line? Where is the best place to order those?

Thanks for any help.

go to road6customs.com and order those bars with the cables and everything together. make sure you read up on changing the throttle cables thats what i had problems with. those snap rings inside.

The answer I hear most commonly is that with 10" bars you can make the cables work but the brake is tight.. anything higher needs new cables. I put 12's on myself yesterday and I think I could have made everything work but the brake if I absolutely had to.

Thanks, how long do you estimate it took for the complete install?

You'll definitely need to replace the brake line and extend the control wires.. And possibly the clutch cable. I just installed the licks 12" z bars (with some..a lot.. of help from a buddy) this past weekend. Start to finish probably took about 4 hours for some noobs. Best piece of advice I can give is to use a vacuum and a shoe string. Cover all the holes except for the crossbar hole and the end of one handlebar. Use the vacuum to suck the string through the bars. Then use the string to pull some mechanics wire through. Then attach and tape that wire to your control wires to pull/tug through. Good luck!
