I just received a Harley sportster . From a family friend but he cant find the title the bike hasn't been on the road in 15 - 20 years the only numbers I could find where on the motor 67XLH 38_ _

that is the only numbers it has.. they didn't number the frame till 1970

VIN Info That link will explain the VINs in general from year to year.
As you will see, Jimmy is right in that it won't have a frame number. The engine number is the VIN.
