when I bought my hugger I scraped the pegs on the way home from the (straight or at least married) guys house I bought it from...

Yup, I scraped my 12 iron first day I got it. Then when I added the Screaming Eagle Slip ons scraped those as well. Thats the ONLY reason I didnt go with the Shortshots and was going to get the side shots if Rough Crafts didnt get back to me. I just couldn't stand having to worry about scraping up my pipes or even through my pipes. I let my peg drag through turns and sometime I even fold them up and place my foot on the tip as it's folded.
Scariest part was when it was folded I scraped the actual peg mount (thingy) and the whole bike rattled in a turn.

I was surprised how well the stock Michelin Scorcher's stick on my 48. They definitely give more than enough confidence to run into a corner at a pretty good clip. The only draw back is ground clearance. I have started to hang off a tad in corners to try and keep the bike more upright.
Looking at my rear tire, I can't see how it is possible to get ride of the last 1/2" or so of chicken strip with out seriously grinding down a hard part mid corner. Not that I am trying, of course.
