I wear Sear's 6" work boot pretty much every day, unless there's snow.
I wear them riding and I can walk miles in them. About $40-$45. They make them in black, too, but somehow I think the tan boots are more sturdy. Heavy coat of Sno-Seal melted in and they're good to go.
I broke my left foot in half on a Yamaha about 24 years ago. I was going for a quick jaunt to the store wearing loafers. There's a whole bunch of bones in your foot. Stiff boots that won't fly off (slip on means slip off) are your best bet, but everybody has their own risk management. I sincerly hope that everyone enjoys wearing the Chuck's while they can.

TCX (Oxtar as they used to be called) make good gear - say what you like about Italians, but they know how to make shoes.
