I wear a pair of H-D 11" riding boots and they feel really good for riding, but not so much for walking. I am presently looking for a similar boot that has a high level of comfort for walking as well as riding. In the heat of the summer I wear plain old sneakers sometimes but don't feel that they are good protection at all. I need some good all-around comfortable boots!

 

I bought last week those boots, not really riding boots, but they looked sturdy, they are insulated with synthetic fur, and are kinda "Gore-Tex" (other brand) isolated.

I rode with them under the rain, they indeed are perfect, and they are also good to walk around and walk with the dog in the woods around my house...

Paid 70€ for them

When I am riding to work my redwing irish setters. Otherwise I wear my ariat cowboy boots

 

Redwing lace ups when on long rides. Usually when commuting a pair of sneakers.

 

I wear Chucks all day every day, unless its below 40 degrees then my toes freeze! hahahha

If you have a Cyclegear around check it out... First gear and Alpinestars have some decent products...I like ankle protection myself so i can't give you real world experience , just what others i have seen with them...

 

I raced dirt and ran hillclimbs when I was a young man. I wore over the ankle boots then for ankle support and protection...Redwings...and still wear that brand today, although the g/f recently bought me a pair of HD boots.
C'boy boots...I have 3 pair but they all have leather soles which slip easily on pavement. At 5'9" and 155 lbs, I gotta have traction when I'm backing 'er up.

Everybody's got their own preferences...good luck to ya'll who wear sandals/flipflops.
