My stable of riding footwear. The bottom pic shows that sneakers my not be the best choice as far as protection goes. Those sneakers were practically new in April.

On an H-D: Boots.

We have Wesco and Danner right here so it wouldn't make much sense, for me anyway, to go too far looking for boots. I personally prefer boots without clunky square heel edges so the Danners are what I have been wearing for years. I only wish they would make their glue-down tactical uniform boots here. Plenty of rebuildable U.S.A. made models though, and you can get custom orthos for any boot if you want the pinnacle in comfort. Off the shelf is good enough for me though.

I switch back and forth between my Thorogood boots that have the wedge sole and my combat boots that have the heel and steel toe. I did my MSF class in my combat boots but the felt clumsy when i would shift up and down the gears, i think the steel toe took away from the feel between shifts. The sole of the combat boot was also really stiff, and i felt that the sole was just sitting on top of the peg. The next day i wore my Thorogood work boot, these felt a lot better. The Thorogood boots didn't have a steel toe so i could feel the shifts and the toe would wrap the shift peg (sometime the steep toe would slip off) and the wedge bottom would hug and had a better grip on the peg. Now i'm just looking for a combat style boot with no steel toe and has a wedge bottom.
