Rich Phillips solo spring seat advice for 48
I'm really liking the Rich Phillips spring solo seat to replace my stock seat on my 48. Can anyone tell me what the height difference is that I can expect from the 2" coil or 2" hairpin set-up? I really don't want to add much height, but I like the look of the spring style seat on this bike.
Also, would you recommend the 12"x13" or the 10" x 13" seat?
Any feedback or pics are appreciated. Thanks

I looked into him as an alternative to the HD solo spring seat I purchased. Really like the look of his seats. Depending upon your weight you might not notice a change in ride height at all. I noticed that I gained a bit of support in the seat that the stock seat did not offer. Proved to be less likely to slide off the back of the seat on the solo. As for the size, I would go bigger just for comfort. Sometimes you might want to sit back in the seat and other forward.
Which one are you getting? Old #7?

Just installed a Rich Phillips seat a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. I went with a 10x13 with 2" barrel springs and I purchased the gel upgrade. I was worried the extra gel padding would make the seat look too fat, but it doesn't at all. I find this setup to be WAY more comfortable than the stock seat and have yet to feel sore during a ride.
I'm guessing the new seat with the 2" springs sits about the same height as the stock seat but that's just a guess.
Getting the nuts/washers attached to the seat/springs is not easy and will require some swearing and throwing of tools. I was unaware a wrench thrown to the ground could bounce so high! It was a thing of beauty.

The only hick-up with the order was that they originally sent the wrong color but they were very quick to fix the problem. Mistakes happen, so no big deal.
Very happy with the look and comfort of this seat.

Bought it direct. I think their prices are fair, it's a well-crafted seat, very nice leather work. Yeah, I can't wait to see how it looks in a year or two.
