I'm leaning towards the Bates look seat with tuck and roll. I like the classic look, but ...InsomniaInc's seat has me wondering about my choice.

My number one concern though is height. I'm fairly new to riding and I'm short. Any other pros or cons InsomniaInc, about your new seat?

The only con was how tricky it was to put it all together. It does not come with instructions, which isn't a big thing but definitely slowed things down a little. Really it's more that it's hard to get the nuts started on the threads inside that tight space.

I love this seat and was shocked by how comfortable it is. I'm tall and skinny, 6' 155 lbs and it fits my butt like a glove. I don't feel like I am sitting taller at all. I think the gel padding is worth the extra $100.

I've only had the seat for a month but so far no buyer's remorse.

Thanks for the info. Could you please post the link to the site & page where you bought the seat? Not seeing the same options (gel seat). I'm using Mother road customs' site which I thought was the official Rich Phillips site.

Their site is http://bikersaddles.com/ but good luck finding anything. They just redid the site and it looks like 90% of their old content is now gone. I'll try to do some more digging.

Do you plan on keeping your shocks? If so I would recommend not using seat springs and instead mount to rubber feet. That way you can keep it low if you make your own seat hinge. Here is a few pics of my Rich Phillips seat with rubber feet and i made the seat hinge.

I have one of their seats. It does ad a little bit of height, but not too much (you can always get shorter springs). I was just surprised how comfortable it is! I've easily done 500 mile trips on it...

Jenks, I like the look of your seat sitting super low and tight like that but I also really love the look of the springs so I'm keeping it as-is. Photos of my setup are a little deceiving because it looks much different when I'm actually sitting on it. The seat just sort of disappears and becomes very low profile, with just
The springs showing. It's a look I like quite a bit. What I would really love to do is lose the rear fender but then my girlfriend would have no place
to sit, and unlike a lot of people, I actually like riding with my "old lady."

Jenks01 and Voelser...did you go with the smaller seat?

My seat is 10"x13" seat without the gel pad. I really considered getting the gel but another $100 was a little to much for me. I went with them because for the price I like the quality I got. I only drive about 35 miles each way to work and no pain yet. The most I have done is about 2hrs straight and I am ready to stretch my legs and back afterwards, but I like the look more than I want a comfortable seat.
