Default Thinking of a purchase

Hello all,

Went to look at an 2002 XLH 883 yesterday and am seriously thinking of buying it.....has been garaged for most of that time and only has 596 miles on the clock.....are there any issues with that year and model?? As I have an 05 Dyna which came with inner primary bearing problem and dont want bitten twice!

Also anything else I should be looking out for before taking the plunge?

That thing looks new! Sporty's are pretty bullet proof in my opinion. The Evo motor is tried and true! 596 miles? Isn't it Km in Ireland? haha That thing is new. Even better, it is carbed, so a lot less likely to have EFI issues and all that crap. Change the oil every 3-4K miles and inspect her often and she will treat ya fine for many years to come!

Good luck, bro!

Giver her a nice bath and they'll clean up!

Make sure that ALL of the fluids have been changed, including gas. If you decide to buy it, run so Seafoam or some other gas treatment through it to clean out the varnish in the carb.

BTW, just two months ago, I bought an '01 1200 XLH with less than 3K miles on it. Beasly runs like a champ without any age related issues, although he's got a couple of small blemishes on the chrome.

Good bike I say. No known recalls or issues with the 2000-2003 bikes. With one that old, the rocker box gaskets may start leaking once you run it, though. Other than that they are pretty flawless.

It does have what looks like a lot of Nightster parts on it. Suspension, wheels, tins, paint....

Thanks for input everyone, much appreciated......an 03 with 1100 on the clock has appeared for sale locally to muddy the waters a bit further, but think i'll go with this one.

Low miles can be good or bad
Mostly depends on how it was cared for while sitting
Nice looking bike in your pics though
