Glad you're okay! I have a small ammount of experience with tig - enough to put something together anyway might not be pretty - id like to get better but the machines are $$$. I can lay down a very professional Mig bead - once again a trained monkey can do it . my tool of choice though? always the good old Stick! Probably do to my agricultural background - an Arc machine is just hands down the most versatile and robust machines. It can be used outdoors in a breeze unline gas shielded welds. Now for thin material or material that has to look pretty - its not the best choice .

Why because I'm right? I work with tons of **** poor excuses for welders all the time at my work. They come in waving there welding masks in the air asking for jobs and then fail every certification we give them. Cry and scream because they have been welding for ten years at joe shmoos welding r us! but can't pass the first weld stress test.
The welding industry is becoming as bad as the auto. Every dumbass that watched paul jr or jesse james throw magic on metal think that discovery was a training course and maybe they to have what it takes to put welds on things that could possibly injure someone badly. You have more people posing as professionals then can actually be professional it seems. For every ten failed welding interviews I ask for a 25 cent raise :].
