First off let me say hello to everyone, Im a new member of the forum.

I have an 84 sportster that I bought with an s&s super e shorty on it. We tore the motor down and rebuilt the top end with an HD kit. The hoosiers before me had taken off the carb support bracket that attaches to the air cleaner, and the weight of the carb broke the vacuum seal and burned up the valves. I got the guides honed and the motor back together, and I tried to go back to the stock keihnin carb. It wont idle with the keihnin, despite the fact we have rebuilt/cleaned it multiple times. So I figured Id try the s&s, but put it on right this time. Well, turns out I have the wrong s&s intake and they don't make the one I need anymore, s&s pn 16-1400. So what should I do? Try and figure out the stock carb or fish around on ebay for the manifold I need? Or buy a different carb compatible with the HD intake? Some direction would be much appreciated. Thanks for the input.

I'd put a C/V carb on it. They're hard to beat. Can pick them up cheap sometimes on ebay just dont get one someone jacked up. Stock untouched is the way I'd go
