I'm not pickin on ya dude, I'm like you, I don't give any money to the dealer if I can do it myself. Look back at my post, I said I did the same thing. Just differant mufflers. And geta newair filter, the K&N flows much better.

Put SEII's on my wife's 1200 sporty with an SE air filter and rejetted the carb. Punched out the baffles and man that thing is L-O-U-D. Really good, deep, throaty sound. At times I wish I could get my RKC to sound that good.

ndotken,
You put on SE2's AND punched out the baffles? I have to wear earplugs with mine, your wife must wear shooting headphone too! Must sound awesome.

Are we talking about the 'newer 49 state legal' Screamin' Eagle mufflers instead of the older, original 'not for road use' SE2 mufflers?

The SE2 mufflers should have 2 bolts holding in the baffle in each muffler, and it shouldn't be necessary to 'punch out the baffles'.

I have baloney cut SE2 mufflers on my FatBoy, and from time to time remove the baffles just for the heck of it...

Man that thing is loud without baffles, more so than either my Shovelhead or EVO WideGlide which are both running straight pipes, but it is pushing out quite a bit of exhaust flow.

Yep, they are L-O-U-D. I thought it would be too much, but she likes the sound. And I like it because I don't even have to look in my rear views to know if she's still behind me or not.

They are the '06 SE2's ... and yes they did have the 2 bolts holding in the baffle. But try as I did, I couldn't seem to get anything to grab on the baffle so I could pull it out. So I took the muffler off and used a broom handle to "punch" it out of the other end.

After I installed my SE IIs and fired it up I had the biggest smile on my face. Mufflers are the absolute best bang for the buck immediate satisfaction mods.
