I have one mounted here:
Just ran the wires directly to the battery. My GPS cord is fused.
It's not the most secure, just zip tied on, but it works.
I used the GPS for one way on a long trip and left it off on the way back. Too hard to see in the sun I found.

Maybe a simple mount down by your battery, just run another hot wire from battery positive to the lighter receptacle. I think they only proved current when the lighter/power plug are inserted. I could see it mounted back where guys relocate their keyswitch. One of those keyswitch mounts should hold a lighter receptacle with minimal mods I would think.

Didn't want to wait for shipping, made one instead:
I had a 2 wire pigtail from the battery charger already, so I bought a matching connector plus a cigarette lighter extension. Cut off the plug & wired the socket to the pigtail. I unplug it all, replace the rain cap & throw it in the saddle bag.

GOOGLE!!!!! They also make waterproof USB connectors. I'd rather do that than a big hole to collect water. I don't recommend connecting it straight to the battery. Try a fuse post. They sell all you need at J&P cycle and several other cycle mega-stores. Gice them a call, talk to a human!!! LOL Ride safe.
